Loyiso Saliso, affectionately known as Lolo in the NGO sector, is an award winning and prominent intersectional human rights activist. She is celebrated for her unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights of marginalized groups, driven by a profound aversion to injustice. With a comprehensive grasp of the complexities surrounding race, gender, sexuality, health & human rights, and socio-economic status, she has become a leading voice for equality and justice.
Boasting over two decades of experience in activism and leadership, Loyiso has spearheaded and guided significant campaigns and movements within South Africa such as #TheTotalsShutdown Intersectional Movement against SGBVF, and has managed her own NPO. She has worked with a variety of groups and institutions at national, regional, and international levels, contributed to policy development, and excelled as a public speaker, facilitator, and advocate. Equipped with expertise in strategic planning, board governance, intersectional advocacy, fundraising, resource mobilization, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement, supported by various course certificates, she assumed the role of Programme Manager at Sisonke in 2023.
Loyiso is purposefully dedicated to fostering a world where every person is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or identity. Through her advocacy for intersectionality, she ensures that the unique challenges faced by diverse communities are acknowledged and addressed comprehensively.
